Knowing Jesus
"That I may know him"
As Christians, knowing Christ is our lifelong longing and our eternal pursuit. We delight in knowing more of him. Paul says, "That I may know him" (Phil.3:10). The psalmist says, "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple" (Ps.27:4).
O the joy and peace of knowing the Lord and living in the consciousness of it! Peter writes, "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" (2Pet.3:18).
It is important to know that knowing Christ involves knowing the Scriptures. The Scripture reveals God to us. We must devote ourselves to a thorough studying of the word of God. The word of God, the will of God, the ways of God, and the work of God are all connected. By reading the Scripture and yielding to the Holy Spirit we advance in our knowledge of Christ. Let us join the Berean Christians in their spiritual devotion, for Paul says of them, "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Act.17:11). That is the way to go and what our life is to be about.
In this ministry we are committed solely to 'KNOWING Christ more clearly and plainly, to LOVING Christ more deeply and dearly, and to FOLLOWING Christ more nearly and intimately.'
Let's go all the way with Jesus. Let's apprehend Him who has apprehended us. Let's know and do what we know. Revelation results in action. Faith leads to obedience. Amen.
