Focus: A Wonderful Life (Pt.4)
Text: Gal.2:20
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
A wonderful life is possible in this world. One of the components of a wonderful life is single-mindedness. The Lord Jesus Christ says, "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light" (Mt.6:22).
One of life's main objectives is keeping one's eyes on the main things, and those main things are determined by God in His word. The values of God transcend worldly values. What men consider important is often an abomination to God.
A single-minded person is not given to distractions or empty fascinations. He is focused on the ultimate, not just on the immediate. He is not like the man who said, "And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it" (1Kgs.20:20). This fellow abandoned his main task of keeping an eye on an enemy, and pursued other things of less importance. While he was busy here and there, the enemy escaped.
A single-minded person is busy for things that truly matter.
Nehemiah said to those who wanted to distract and lure him to his death, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?" (Neh.6:3). Nehemiah would not be lured away from his main pursuit.
Single-mindedness is an integral component in realizing a wonderful life. Child of God, keep your eyes on the main things of life, and refuse to be a part of the rat race! Be spiritually-minded and be driven by a clear vision!
