Focus: A Wonderful Life (Pt.7)

Text: Gal.2:20
"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
This morning we focus on the selfless life. Do you know that there is nothing awesome about selfish or self-centered living? It is ugly and awful; it is indeed neither beautiful nor wonderful. Our life is wonderful when it is lived selflessly.
Paul says, "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour PREFERRING one another" (Rom.12:10). Preferring one another - that is what it means to living a selfless life. Self-projection or self-assertiveness stems from selfish tendencies.
Do you remember the parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15? In that story we could see that both the Prodigal Son and his elder brother were selfish. In their attitude and action they thought only of themselves, not anyone else. Every time we prefer and project ourselves, we begin to ignore others and end up disregarding them.
God demands that we love, give, forgive, and serve others selflessly. Our love is not genuine if we put self at the center of it. In doing good to others we must put ourselves behind.
According to the Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 9:23, we are disciples of Him only if we come after Him, deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him. The way of the cross is the way of selfless sacrifice.
It is by daily surrendering of ourselves to God that we can lead a selfless life. Truly, selfless life makes for a wonderful life. The Spirit empowers us supernaturally to leading selfless lives, and it is a life so sweetly scented and beautifully attractive.
