Focus: Divine Harmony

Text: Gen.1:1

"In the beginning God created the heaven AND the earth."

Our text has the word AND in it. It is a connective or copulative word - bringing two or more things together. In this text, the word AND tells us that the heaven and the earth are meant to function together as one. In the prayer Jesus Christ taught us to pray, He says, "Thy will be done in EARTH, as it is in HEAVEN." You can see the harmony that Christ desires to see in His universe - heaven and earth collaborating in doing the will of God. The psalmist says, "LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in HEAVEN. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the EARTH, and it abideth" (Ps.119:89,90). God's word is settled in heaven, and it needs to be settled on earth, even in your own life.

Heaven and earth need each other. They cannot afford to function in disharmony. Heaven and earth form one big universe. They function not in opposition but in harmony. Hosea speaks, "And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the HEAVENS, and they shall hear the EARTH" (Hos.2:21). The Lord would respond to the heavens so that the heavens would in turn respond to the earth. Jesus Christ says to Peter, "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of HEAVEN: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on EARTH shall be bound in HEAVEN: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on EARTH shall be loosed in HEAVEN" (Mt.16:19). 

You can see how authority functions between heaven and earth! Whatever the church binds on earth must truly be in accordance with what God has bound in heaven. The same goes with loosing. The church's permission or prohibition should be seen to agree with God's will in heaven. The church cannot afford to go against the rule of heaven in whatever it does.

Jesus says to His disciples after His resurrection, "All power is given unto me in HEAVEN and in EARTH" (Mt.28:18). Christ holds sway in all realms, regions and universes. His authority and influence spreads everywhere. His authority is supreme. It is extensive. It is earned. It is given on merit. It is delivered into His hand because He is deserving and worthy of it. He is able to handle authority and power well. 

Authority is a function of history. You can't wield authority overnight. Authority has a source. Influence has to do with inflow - what flows in is what flows out. You exude authority.

Jesus Christ controls all worlds and spaces. Paul says about Jesus Christ, "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in HEAVEN, and things in EARTH, and things UNDER the earth" (Phil.2:10). Satan is not in charge of anywhere. He created nothing and owns nothing. He did not even make himself. He existed not by himself or of himself. He has no jurisdiction over God's universe. Christ is in charge both in creation and redemption. Satan is only a spoiler. He tries to ruin the creator's designs, but he is an ultimate loser. Maker and Master Jesus Christ is the ultimate winner.

I pray for the heaven and the earth to come together in your life. Let the divine harmony, symphony and melody that is found in God's universe be found in your life. Let there be integration, not disintegration. Let there be harmonization, not fragmentation. Let the order of heaven be established in your life and personal space. I pray you experience divine serenity and tranquility. All of this I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen!
