Focus: Covenant Wealth
Text: Dt.8:17"But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is HE that giveth thee POWER to GET WEALTH, that he may establish his COVENANT which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day."
Poverty is not a mark of humility or spirituality. God's people must do away with the mentality that sees being poor as a virtue. There's no purity in poverty. The worst form of poverty is poverty of the mind. A man is either poor by choice or by force, but the anointing that comes by divine revelation of truth can destroy that force and liberate the mind.
Poverty is neither something to manage nor something to be proud of. The church has mystified success long enough. It's time to simplify the mystical.
Wealth is part of the covenant of YHVH for Israel. Power to make wealth comes from God. David says, "Both RICHES and HONOUR COME OF THEE, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give STRENGTH UNTO ALL."
Read of how David died: "And he died in a GOOD OLD AGE, FULL OF DAYS, RICHES, and HONOUR: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead" - 1Chron.29:28. What a way to die!
Poverty makes life hard. Imagine a life of immense and intense struggle, managing to pay bills and finding it extremely difficult to have a little extra!
The force of poverty must be broken in our lives. This force of poverty has several angles to it. The force of ignorance. The force of background or history. The force of evil policies of government that make it virtually impossible for the poor to become rich. The force of hopelessness and helplessness. The force of being satisfied with just peanuts, of low aiming and of low living. We must break free from this negative energy and receive God's positive power for wealth creation.
Prosperity is not sin. What is sin is worshipping prosperity and making a god out of money.
Use your money to advance the kingdom of God. Commit your resources to winning souls. Invest heavily in the gospel. Let eternity feel the impact of your wealth. Help people in need. Make someone smile. Lift someone out of poverty. Serve God with your money and be a blessing to others. That's the purpose of wealth. Amen.
