Focus: Garments Of Grace
Text: Rev.3:4
"Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not DEFILED their GARMENTS; and they shall WALK with me in WHITE: for they are WORTHY."
God has clothed the believer with grace. These garments of grace can be expressed using the acronym of G.R.A.C.E:
*Garments of grace
*Robe of righteousness
*Attire of beautiful attitudes
*Clothes of godly character
*Embroidered raiments of excellence
As God ordered for the filthy garments of Joshua the priest to be taken off him, even so has He done for the repentant sinner (Zech.3:3,4). As a sinner repents of his sins and embraces Christ in his life, he is washed in Christ's blood and clothed with salvation. Isaiah declares, "For he hath clothed me with the garments of SALVATION, he hath covered me with the robe of RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Isa.61:10). It is called "garments of salvation" and "robe of righteousness." It is Aaron's HOLY garments (Ex.28:2). It is Zion's BEAUTIFUL garments (Isa.52:1). It is the WHITE garments of God's people in their moments of festivity and celebration (Ecl.9:7,8). It is the SHINING garments of the two men at the gravesite of Jesus Christ on the resurrection morning (Lk.24:4).
Concerning the king's garments, the psalmist says, "All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad" (Ps.45:8). So it is with us. In Christ all our kingly and priestly garments smell good. Our garments are well perfumed with sweet fragrance of Christ's resurrection life.
The psalmist says, "Blessed are the UNDEFILED in the WAY, who WALK in the law of the LORD" (Ps.119:1). We are undefiled in the way and we are walking reverently and royally in the word of Christ, and according to James and Peter, our RELIGION is pure and undefiled, and our INHERITANCE which is in heaven is undefiled (James.1:27; 1Pet.1:4), and like the few names in Sardis, we have not defiled our garments, and the Lord Jesus Christ has destined for us to walk with Him in white, and He has made and declared us worthy. Christ has made us worthy in His own worthiness, and because He lives, we shall live also.
Thank You, Jesus, for what You have done for us; thank You for what You are doing for us; and thank You for what You are going to do for us! We are eternally grateful. We'll celebrate and serve You forever.
