Text: Mt.15:23,28

"But he answered her not a word… Then Jesus answered and said unto her…"

A lady laden with an acute sense of need finds the Lord within her own territory. She kneels before the Lord, praises Him, and then pleads for His help concerning her daughter, who is under a demonic attack. After a passionate and desperate plea for help, Jesus says not a word to her. The disciples see her as an interruption. Jesus sees her as a stranger and a dog. But this nameless stranger keeps pressing and pleading on behalf of her dear daughter. And she prevails at last, for we read, "Then Jesus answered and SAID unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour" (Mt.15:28). Finally, Jesus responds and says a word to her. Her faith prevails and she goes home with a word of assurance. And in that word is exactly what she needed - the deliverance of her daughter.

*Get a word from God

Don't leave God's presence without a word. Have an open ear. Be attentive to the voice of God. God speaks and guides by His word. Peter says to the Master, "Tell me to come to you…" Peter walks on the water only because the Master says so. We need a word from God, not every word from everyone. A word from God can settle issues. Walk on the word. Jesus says that man shall live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. O how we need fresh word from God! Wait on the word. Live by the word.

The centurion says to the Lord, "Speak the word only." Rest on His word. All you need is in the word. Take not a step from where you are until He tells you to. Let God speak; then act on it.

Peter says, "Nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net." Hear from God and then act accordingly and immediately. Let the word be your driving force. Do nothing till God speaks to you, but once you have heard from Him, go all the way.

*Go your way

If God has given you a word, go your way. Reckon with it. Rest on it. Concerning the nobleman, John wrote, "Jesus saith unto him, GO THY WAY; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and HE WENT HIS WAY" (Jh.4:50). Having heard from the Lord he went about his business, relying fully on the Lord's word. He gets home at the end of the business day and finds out that his child has been healed.

A word from God is your assurance, insurance and arsenal. Get a word from God at all times. You will never err doing what God says. Amen.
