Focus: Gifts of God from John's Gospel
Text: 2Cor.9:15; Jh.4:10."Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.""If thou knewest the gift of God."
Our God is a giver. He gives us with reckless abandon. He gives ultimate gifts - gifts money cannot buy. Intangible gifts. He enriches our lives with eternity - the infinite.
*In John 6:51, it is the gift of the TRUE BREAD - eternally healthy and tasty. O, what delicious food we have in Jesus!
*In John 13:34, it is the gift of a NEW COMMANDMENT - that's love-alike or loving like Jesus!
*In John 14:16, it is the gift of ANOTHER COMFORTER - the Holy Spirit. O, the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit!
*In John 14:27, it is the gift of PEACE - peace with God, peace from God, and peace of God that passes all understanding. Christ is our peace, even the Prince of peace.
*In John 17:2, it is the gift of ETERNAL LIFE - yes, it is God's kind of life, real and abundant - with everything that makes it worth living.
*In John 17:8, it is the gift of the WORDS of God - the life-transforming rhema.
*In John 17:14, it is the gift of "THY WORD" - the Logos of God. In Jesus we have both the logos and the rhema.
*In John 17:22, it is the gift of GLORY - same glory he received from the Father he gives to us.
Meditate long on these priceless gifts from the throne of grace. Let your heart brim with joy and your feet set to dancing.
