Text: Mt.6:33
"But SEEK ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be ADDED unto you."

The Play of Graham Greene comes to mind, The Potting Shed, in which a priest's 14-year old nephew was struck by lightning while visiting him. Then the priest prayed to God and promised to give up the thing he loved and cherished most if his nephew was saved. The nephew was spared, and the priest gave up God.

The priest sacrificed God for the life of his nephew. Just how man does some stupid stuff in the heat of the moment!

Examine yourself and be sure you are not doing the same thing without even knowing it. Are there ways you are sacrificing God time after time for things of less value or giving up principle on the altar of opportunity?

Nothing is worth throwing away God for. God is not a disposable item or thing.

God is to be sought, not to be sacrificed.

Seek God first, and other things will align. He saves, heals and delivers. We need not sacrifice God for anything. The right thing to do is to sacrifice everything for God, if need be. Things add up and align when we seek God first. They don't deplete. In your life God is a plus, not a minus. He is the big magnet that draws all others.

Here's the Passion Translation of our text:

"So above all, constantly seek God's kingdom and his righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly."

Nothing is worth getting or gaining at the expense of God. Whatever you must lose God for, is not worth having. Beware!
