Focus: God of Miracles
Text: 2Kgs.3:17
"For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts."
God works all and diverse miracles. Elijah prayed down rain at a critical time in the history of Israel. Elisha prophesied that the army of Israel shall have enough water to execute their battle against Moab under a windless and rainless atmosphere. And it came to pass exactly. Elijah's, was the miracle of rain; Elisha's, is the miracle of water without wind and rain. Elijah's miracle happened by prayer, and Elisha's, by music.
In the battlefield, the soldiers of Israel found no water to drink. The land is dry. The animals are thirsty. And the battle is fierce. The king of Israel is feeling hopeless and downcast. But Jehoshaphat the king of Judah says, 'We cannot give up that easily. Let us look for a prophet. A miracle is possible.' The long story cut short is that they had enough water to drink and they won the battle.
The God of miracle lives in you. Jesus Christ, the miracle-worker dwells in you. The Spirit of the Lord is working in you. In fact, you are the workplace of the Spirit. And it is not possible to have God in your life without miracles happening to you and through you. Miracles happen wherever God lives and reigns. Christ is in your life for real and for good.
Are you aware that the word 'miracle' and 'mirror' stem from the same Latin root? Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and see what a miracle you are. After all you've been through, you are still alive and well on planet earth. You are a living and walking miracle - a wonder to behold.
In the Latin, the word miracle is called miro, to wonder, and mirus, wonderful. Miracle makes us wonder at God and helps us see how wonderful He is. And with wonder comes worship. We cease to worship when we lose our sense of wonder.
Make space for your miracle by expelling your fear, starving your doubt, and feeding your faith. You may not feel the wind nor see the rain, but you will surely find the water you desperately need. You will come out of that battle victorious. You will see the glory of the Lord in your circumstance.
You can't lose. There's a way out for you. In Christ miracle always happens. You serve the God of miracles. Amen.
