Focus: God, the Wonder-Worker
Text: Ex.15:11"Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, DOING WONDERS?"
God is the first worker in the universe, and his works are not only perfect, but also, they are wonders.
The universe itself is a wonder to behold. In the universe we see design and beauty, precision and calculation. The universe is indeed a divine masterpiece of the highest intelligence. On the day of Pentecost the disciples of Christ by the Spirit were seen speaking of the "wonderful works of God." Jesus says to the people, "I have done one work, and you all marvel." God's work makes us marvel. He is the wonder worker. There is always something remarkable in all that God does.
Let us see how God works.
First, God works FOR us.
Jonathan says, "…the LORD will work for us" - 1Sam.14:6.
Second, God works IN us.
Paul writes, "For it is God which worketh IN you both to will and to do of his good pleasure" - Phil.2:13. In Heb.13:21, the author says, "Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, WORKING IN YOU that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ…"
Third, God works WITH us. Apostle Paul says, "We then, as WORKERS together WITH him…" Mark records that the disciples "went forth, and preached every where, the Lord WORKING WITH them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen" - Mk.16:20.
Finally, God works BY us.
Paul declares, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you BY us…" - 2Cor.5:20.
It is both thrilling and captivating to know that God works For us, In us, With us, and By us. He is with us and for us, and resides in us. We are not only "fearfully and wonderfully" created at the beginning, but also, we are "fearfully and wonderfully" redeemed and regenerated. We are God's work and a wonder to behold.
God has made us workers together with him, because he is a team worker. We are his privileged partners forever. Amen.
