Text: Isa.44:3

"I will pour water upon him that is thirsty."

Is your soul longing for something that money cannot buy? What is your heart yearning for? Do you have hunger for the depths of God? Are you desperately in need of the supernatural of God? God fills an empty cup, not a full one. Your problem is key to your miracle. Our text says in full, "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring."

O how I long for the fullness of spiritual blessings! My heart is hungry and thirsty for the world as God made it.

In the first place, I am thirsty of God - for the reality of His presence and presentness. Paul talks about being "filled with all the fulness of God," and being "filled with the Spirit" (Eph.3:19; 5:18). That is what I want and desperately long for - to be filled to the fullest capacity of my very being with all that God is. And it is not so that I could become God, no, not at all; but so that I could become a true reflection and a full expression of God upon the earth. I long to radiate the light of God's grace and glory to all who come in contact with me.

In the second place, I thirst for souls in their large numbers coming into the kingdom of God on daily basis through my prayers and evangelistic efforts. The psalmist says, "I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD" (Ps.122:1). Again, he says, "For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up…" (Ps.69:9). Souls are loitering our streets who do not know the Lord. I hear Paul's voice crying out: "we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God" (2Cor.5:20). Someone needs to hear my voice interceding and pleading for his soul.

In the third place, I deeply thirst for Pentecostal power. I can't minister for Christ in my own power. I am in desperate need for the supernatural dynamism of the Holy Spirit. Natural power cannot do supernatural work. God's work is done in total dependence on the Holy Spirit.

In the fourth place, I earnestly desire for the miraculous. Gideon asked the Lord, "Where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of…" (Judg.6:13). Miracles do not belong only to the biblical history; they equally belong to our contemporary times. The Lord says, "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues" (Mk.16:17). Miracles attended the ministry of my Lord Jesus Christ everywhere He went. Mark writes that the Apostles "went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen" (Mk.16:20). Even today the Lord is still in the business of working miracles. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is still producing miracles in men's lives.

In the fifth place, I am thirsty for God to use me in a remarkable and undeniable way in my generation. I am thirsty for the Spirit of God to make a unique vessel out of me. I long to do exploits in the name of the Lord. I want God to use me to touch lives in unique ways.

Finally, I am thirsty for the salvation of God in my life. I want to see God do wonders in my life. I want to experience the reality of God in my life in an ever increasing dimension. I am thirsty for change, the change that only God can effect or bring about. A glorious change. Change from inside out.

What's your soul thirsting or yearning for? What are you on the look out for? And like Jesus Christ would ask, what do you want God to do for you? God promises to pour water on him who is thirsty. He quenches our thirst, soothes our hearts and fills our emptiness. God sees our need and honors our faith. He meets us at the point of our need on account of our faith. Get thirsty for God's touch and change!
