Focus: He's Coming!
Text: Song of Sol.2:8
"The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills."
Jesus Christ is our beloved, and we are certain in our hearts that He is coming to us in the area of our needs - spiritual, physical, and material. I am not referring to the Lord's Second Coming, but to His timely interventions in our lives as occasions demand. John tells us about a nobleman, "The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die" (Jh.4:49). In Matthew 8:7, the Lord Jesus Christ says to the centurion, "I will come and heal him." That is the kind of coming that I am talking about. He keeps coming into our lives to heal and help us. When we call upon Him He comes. He steps into action on our behalf.
In John we read that Lazarus was sick, and his sisters sent to call the Master Jesus. He writes, "Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick" (Jh.11:3). They called on Him and felt so sure that He would come. So they waited for Him. They were confident and expectant. They knew the love that Christ had for Lazarus, and Paul tells us that love never fails.
God's love never fails. Jesus' love is real. The Spirit's love is a tasty fruit.
Martha and Mary waited and waited until Lazarus died and was buried, and it was four days after his death that Christ finally arrived. He came finally. He came ultimately. He seemingly came late, but He came. Martha and Mary felt perplexed and powerless, but He came. They couldn't understand Him, but He came. Love finally comes.
Let me assure you by the Spirit that your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is coming to you. His timing is different from yours. The real deal is that He is coming. He will not fail to come to you. His love for you will not let Him fail. Love never fails. Love will make every effort to identify with needy or loved ones. Your beloved is coming.
Jesus Christ came late. He couldn't make it on time, but that is understandable because He has immense power both to heal the sick and to raise the dead. He works miracles at any time. No time is late for Christ.
He is coming, and whenever He does, He will dry the tears from your eyes. He is coming; He is beating the traffic and overcoming obstacles.
Lazarus was dead and buried, and we know that the dead hear and see nothing. Once a person dies, everything in him dies. His eyes go blind and his ears go deaf. Every part of his body ceases to move or function. But here is the amazing truth you must know about the dead: the dead hears the voice of Christ. Jesus Christ says, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live." If the Lord meets you dead, He will raise you up and make you live again.
There is no hopeless case with God. Death hearkens and bows to the authority of God's voice. God's word is law.
The God you worship is coming. He will meet you at the point of your need. God is neither a fast runner nor a latecomer, but He will always come. The believer has a hope that never disappoints. God may not come at the time we desire or expect, but whenever He comes, we will surely testify. He has authority over death. He is able to do far more than we can ask or imagine. I tell you: God will beat your expectations. He will do more than heal you; He will restore you to life. He will put laughter in your mouth and glorify His name in your life. He is coming skipping the hills and the mountains. No force will keep Him from getting to you.
On top of the mountain Jesus Christ sights His disciples going through a disastrous storm, and He quickly comes to them, walking on the water, and rescues them. Watch out for His coming!
