Text: Jer.33:3

"Call unto me, I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not."

God has given His children the privilege to pray to Him while He reserves to Himself the right to answer their prayers. Prayer is powerful because by it we engage God, and by it too, God steps into action on our behalf and for His glory.

One thing so sweet about prayer is that by means of it God unveils secrets to us. God exposes us to the deep and high things of our salvation by the Spirit of God.

The King James Version says when we pray, that God will "shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not." One translation says, "I will shew thee great and fortified things." Another one says, "Great and reserved things." The Message says, "'Call to me and I will answer you. I'll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.'" The Amplified says, "'Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.'" We are dealing with things that are stored in a fortified place - unsearchable and inaccessible treasures. If you like, call them spiritually classified information, or unfathomable mysteries.

God has reserved for His children special things and deep revelations. Paul shares his personal encounter with God where he says, "I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord… How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter" (2Cor.12:1,4). Paul received abundance of divine revelations. Nebuchadnezzar acknowledged the God of Israel as the revealer of secrets. He says, "Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets…" (Dan.2:47). Paul says, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God" (1Cor.2:10). Paul was referring to Isa.64:4, which says, "For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."

God has reserved things that only the Spirit of God can divulge us through the medium of prayer.

There are things that accompany salvation which we are yet to experience in our lives. Paul tells Timothy about God "who giveth us richly all things to enjoy" (1Tim.6:17). God has made available to us all things for our full enjoyment, but the extent to which we enjoy all of God's provisions depends on our level of faith and obedience. In Ps.83:3, God regards His children as the "hidden ones," and as the hidden ones we have access to the hidden things of God. In Christ "are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Col.2:3).

Child of God, go for your possessions in Christ! The unsearchable riches of Christ are there for you to claim. There is so much unclaimed wealth in Christ and so much that you have yet to know. Your misery is dealt with as you encounter God's mystery. Faith and obedience are the keys to unlocking the secret treasures of Christ. Prayer leads to the unveiling of the fortified place where divine treasures are stored. Possess your possessions and enjoy the limitless resources of heaven on earth!
