Focus: I am God's Zion
Text: Ps.48:3"God is there to keep it safe. He has shown himself to be like a fort to the city."
One translation has it that "God has shown that there is safety with him inside the fortresses of the city."
The psalmist makes the point that Zion is a fortress, an impregnable citadel, a secured city, but not without God in the midst of it.
God is Zion's true hiding place. He is Zion's safe haven.
Regardless of how strong I think I am, without God I am weak, frail, fragile and insecure. The psalmist says, "I am a worm."
I believe in Christ and he lives in me. In him I am safe and secure for time and eternity. I am being kept by the power of God. I am sealed with the Spirit of promise.
The Lord Jesus says no one will be able to snatch me out of his hands. I am living perpetually in the state of bliss and safety.
I am God's Zion. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. I am hid in Christ and Christ in God. I am covered with the blood of Christ. Christ in me is the hope of glory. I am God's habitation. I am Zion, God's dwelling place. Christ is at home in me and I find in him immediate and ultimate security. Amen.
