Focus: Jesus Turns Water Into Wine (Pt.2)
Text: Jh.2:11
"This BEGINNING OF MIRACLES did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him."
The miracles God continues to do in our lives declare in no uncertain terms that He is our contemporary. The reality of God is not a past tense; it's a present tense. Jesus Christ, in different ways, is still turning water into wine. God is God at all times and in all places.
*Jesus' wine
I find John 4:46 very interesting. It says, "So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he MADE the water wine…" He is back to your neighborhood for another miracle. It is time for another kind of miracle.
He made water into wine. It is wine manufactured by Christ - a Jesus made wine. The word 'made' is 'poieo' in the Greek. We got the words 'poem, poetry, and poet' from it. It has to do with something intentionally and intelligently crafted. It is a creative art; a well calculated and well produced design. It's original and authentic.
Christ creates our miracles through our circumstances. Look at the contrasts between water and wine. Water is colorless, tasteless and odorless. On the other hand, wine has color, taste and aroma. Christ makes such a difference in your life.
*Jesus' wine meets our need
Water is a basic need in our lives, but at that point in time, the people were in need of wine, not water. And the Lord Jesus supplied the need of the hour. He doesn't give water in the place of wine. He meets us always at the point of our need. He satisfies our need, not our greed.
Of all those invited to the marriage feast in Cana of Galilee, the Lord Jesus Christ was the one who made all the difference. He took away the shame and reproach of the celebrants and caused their joy to flow unabated. Jesus comes on invitation to make the difference in our lives. Let Him into your life for a change.
*Jesus' wine is the finest
They had the wine of Christ in abundance - a different brand of wine and the best of all. Christ made it possible for the best wine to be served last, contrary to what obtained at that time, where the not-so-good a wine is served last for the sake of saving cost. Jesus serves the best, not minding the cost.
*Jesus' wine is final
In God's eschatology, He has reserved the best for the last. His wine comes at last. We are in the final hour of history, and His wine will soon burst upon us.
In the meantime God is letting us have a foretaste of His best. Hebrews 6:4-5 tells us about those who "have TASTED of the heavenly gift, and were made PARTAKERS of the Holy Ghost, And have TASTED the good word of God, and THE POWERS OF THE WORLD TO COME." In Christ we are having a foretaste of the future bliss. Jesus' wine never finishes; it flows from time to eternity. We'll never run out of wine as they did in Cana of Galilee.
*Jesus' wine is natural
The wine of Christ has water as its raw material. It has no chemicals injurious to health, and no preservatives. It's pure nature made possible by supernatural intelligence. There is no situation that Christ cannot use to produce a miracle in your life. He will make a unique wine out of the tears in your eyes. He uses the available to produce the miraculous. He transforms whatever He touches. I see Christ turning your own water into wine.
We'll continue tomorrow.
