Focus: Life's Essence
Text: Jh.3:34."My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work."
Jesus arrived planet earth with a clear vision of his earthly mission and lived for a heavenly purpose. He had a sense of divine urgency and was perfectly conscious of time. He made the Father's will and work his essential food. He was focused and committed. In his final moments before the cross he prayed for his disciples and also presented his report card to the Father. It is recorded in John 17.
In verse 4, he says, "I have glorified you on the earth: I have finished the work you gave me."
In verse 6, he says, "I have manifested your name to the men you gave me."
In verse 8, he says, "I have given them the words you gave me," and repeated the same in verse 14.
So four things stand out.
*God's GLORY - "I have glorified you."
*God's WORK - "I have done the work you gave me to do."
*God's NAME - "I have unveiled your name."
*God's WORD - "I have given to them the word you gave me."
Now it's your turn and time to do the same, for Jesus says, "As my Father sent me, so have I sent you." That's life's essence - living to do God's bidding. Amen.
