Focus: Modern Day Mordecais
Text. Esth.10:3"For Mordecai the Jew was NEXT unto king Ahasuerus, and GREAT among the Jews, and ACCEPTED of the multitude of his brethren, SEEKING THE WEALTH OF HIS PEOPLE, and SPEAKING PEACE to all his seed."
MORDECAI:
- Next to the king in authority.
- Great among (not above) his own people.
- Accepted or favorite of his people - honored and celebrated by all.
Let's inquire, how did Mordecai arrive at this position of honor?
By seeking the wealth, the good, or the welfare of his people, and by speaking shalom to them.
Mordecai thought of and lived for others. He sought their welfare. He committed himself to promoting the cause of the Jews. He used his position to advance the welfare and wellbeing of his people. He was a political activist and advocate for the people. He lived for the good of others. The Jews benefited from his greatness and glory. The sweet scent of a selfless life oozed from him.
Can we be another Mordecai for the church of Jesus Christ in this day and hour? Can we as Christians live for each other? Can we use our position and possessions for the cause of Christ on earth? Can we forget ourselves and consider the other person?
God is raising modern day Mordecais. Count yourself in. The door remains open. Amen.
