Focus: My Prayer For You (Pt.4)

Text: Jer.17:9

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

My prayer for you today focuses on the heart. Lord, Your child's heart is bad, ugly, evil, corrupt, deceitful, wicked, uncircumcised, adoring and harboring idols, bitter, unbelieving, erring, proud, covetous, rebellious, revolting, fearful, unforgiving, disloyal, and weak; grant him a change of heart, a heart that is touched by Your grace and transformed by Your Spirit, a heart that is indwelt by the Spirit and saturated with the word of God, and a heart that is free from all that is evil, and yielding to the will of God. Give him a heart that is pure, true, perfect, and circumcised (1Tim.1:5; Heb.10:22; Rom.2:29; Isa.38:3).

It is written that "Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself" (Dan.1:8).

Let Your child be so purposed and consecrated in heart to living right in a bad world!

It is written of Ezra that he "had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments" (Ezr.7:10); in the same way, Your child is set to know, do, and teach Your word.

Like Nehemiah, put it in the heart of Your child to do Your will (Neh.2:12)!

Lord, You said in Your Word, "I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart" (Jer.24:7).

Give Your child a heart that knows and delights in You! As Your servant, make him do Your will from the heart (Eph.6:6), and in singleness of heart, fearing You (Col.3:22)!

It is written that "it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace…" (Heb.13:9).

Let the heart of Your child be established with grace!

It is written, "Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem" (Zeph.3:14).

Give him a singing and a rejoicing heart!

Let him find himself fulfilling Eph.5:19, which says, "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."

Let the heart of your child function in a spiritually healthy way, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord! Amen.
