Focus: My Rich God
Text: Eph.2:4
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us."
Paul reveals in this text that your God is rich. You are a child of a rich God. And indeed, you belong to a rich family.
Another point is found in Romans 10:12, where Paul says, "For there is NO difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is RICH unto ALL that call upon him." God is rich unto all - all who call upon Him - all who connect to and collect from Him. It makes no difference whether you are Jew or Greek. God is God to all, and also, God is rich to all. No race of people or ethnic group has a monopoly on God, and no one owns God more than the other. I repeat, no single human being is barred from the limitless resources of God, and particularly for the Christian, he finds in Christ "the unsearchable riches" (Eph.3:8). This is traceless or trackless wealth. This is bottomless treasure-house.
Our God is rich to ALL. No one is banned from calling upon or coming close to God. God is available and accessible to anyone and everyone, regardless of age, race, color, sex, language, culture, or class.
You can't have God in your life and be poor. Poverty is only a thing of choice or ignorance. Eliezar, servant of Abraham, said, "Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, WHO HATH NOT LEFT DESTITUTE my master of his mercy and his truth…" (Gen.24:27). God, for his mercy, has not abandoned you to destitution and impoverishment. You are enriched by the mercy and truth of God.
Lot testifies, "Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast MAGNIFIED THY MERCY, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life…" (Gen.19:19). God, apart from being rich in mercy, also magnifies His mercy in our lives, and Paul exhorts us to trust in the living God, "who giveth us richly all things to enjoy" (1Tim.6:17).
Finally, God's riches should be reflected in your own life. Be a living proof of a rich God by being "rich in faith" and "rich in good works" (Jam.2:5; 1Tim.6:18). Those who are rich in faith show it by doing good works. When you let God's riches rub off on you, you will then become a blessing to others. The wealth we get we give.
You have a rich Father-God. Stop living at the end of the tether and start moving up to the top of the ladder of divine greatness. Amen.
