Text: Col.1:13

"Who hath DELIVERED us FROM the power of darkness, and hath TRANSLATED us INTO the kingdom of his dear Son."

In the world of old times, it was the practice of conquering kings to relocate the people of defeated countries to their own lands, and the reason was to keep them from resettling back to their old way of living. In the words of William Barclay, the relocation was done "lock, stock and barrel to the conqueror's land."

For the Christian, in Christ his status, standing, situation, spiritual surroundings or location has changed. He has been rescued and relocated, or should I say, resettled in another space. He has moved us from a spoiled or messed-up space to a sacred space in Christ. He has given us a new nature, and is by our cooperation and submission transforming us into the image of Christ.

We are no longer under Satan. We are no longer slaves to sin, fear, death, and Satan. We are no longer dominated by moral and spiritual darkness. We are liberated and elevated. The tyranny of Satan over us is broken. We are now citizens of Christ's kingdom, and absolutely under the reign of grace.

God has not left us in the slave market of sin where He purchased us. He has taken us away from there and brought us into His own kingdom. We are free people in a free spiritual space. Our present reality is that we are now, spiritually speaking, in the land of promise, a land flowing with milk and honey, which is indicative of the sweetness of God's grace. We now have access to the throne of grace, where we obtain mercy and find grace to help us in the nick of time.

God has delivered us from the power of Satan and transported us to the heavenly realm in Christ. God has given us the spirit of power, of love, and of a sound mind. We are now under the lordship of Christ Jesus. Our story has changed and is still changing. Amen.
