Focus: Supernatural Sufficiency
Text: Lev.25:22
"And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store."
We thank God for bringing us into the ninth month of the year - the month of September! I call it the season of NINE. September is the ninth month and it has nine letters. Here's your God-given spiritual acronym for this 9th month. For effectiveness and success in these 'ember' months you certainly need:
*Spiritual insight
*Exuberant joy
*Praying faith and prompt obedience
*Thankful heart
*Expectant faith
*Mission-mindedness
*Buoyant spirit
*Excellent attitude
*Reverent spirit
I pray that you possess these attributes and attitudes in this 'ember' month. I pray that you manifest or exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, that others may eat old fruits through you and enjoy the Lord because of you.
God allowed Israel to farm the land for six years, but the seventh year was to be set apart as a holy year. The land had to rejuvenate and regenerate itself for greater fruitfulness in the coming years. God says, "And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still…" (Ex.23:10,11). After the seventh year of letting the land to lie fallow, then it was time to resume work on the fallow land. The Lord reveals from our text that even after the planting season of the 8th year His people would still have enough fruit of the previous years to eat even in the ninth year.
In other words, you will not run out of food because you have sown too much in your life. The more you sow the more fruit you will have to eat and enjoy your life. You will never run out of resources for doing the will of God and for yielding to the demands of God. Keep sowing and you will keep reaping! Never relent in whatever you do for the Lord! Obedience is very rewarding.
Our sufficiency is of God. His grace is sufficient for you. He knows what to do to ensure constant supply of all you are ever in need of. As you walk constantly in the path of obedience to God you will never run out of the gas of grace. You will not lack old fruits while you are sowing into the vineyard of the Lord. You cannot be sowing and be missing out on God's blessings. Old miraculous provisions of God will sustain you in sowing times. Harvest times will never cease for sowers in the Lord's church. The psalmist says, "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Ps.126:6).
In this ninth month you shall see the goodness and glory of the Lord your God. I pray you develop spiritual insight, exuberant joy, praying faith and prompt obedience, thankful heart, expectant faith, mission-mindedness, buoyant spirit, excellent attitude, and reverent spirit. With these beautiful qualities you shall do well in your life and in this 'ember' month and beyond. I can't wait to see you testify of God's supernatural sufficiency. We depend totally on God's sufficiency. We own nothing but what He supplies. Amen!
