Focus: Surrendered Will
Text: Mt.26:42
"Thy will be done."
Jesus Christ surrendered His will to the Father's will. There was no clash of wills between Him and His Father. Man's will makes him a supreme entity in God's world. It is the supremacy of the human will that God requires of man to surrender.
In heaven where God's throne is, there's no clash of wills. The will of God is the only known will in heaven. Satan's will is not known in heaven. Man's will is not projected in heaven. The angels only know and acknowledge the will of God in heaven. No clash of wills in heaven. The 24 elders surrendered their crowns to God who was sitting on the throne. Nothing else matters outside of the will of God in heaven. The psalmist says, "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven" (Ps.119:89).
God's word is a settled thing in heaven. The will of God is the standard of operation. Everyone moves in line with the will of God. God's will is the law in heaven. The will of God determines the policies by which the government of heaven operates. Nothing goes against the will of God.
Man's will makes him supreme, and it's the supremacy of his will that God wants him to surrender willingly, not coercively or by force. Surrender of one's will is volitional.
God is glorified when you surrender your will to the will of God. God is glorified when you praise and worship God freely - by choice. God is glorified when you willingly do what God wants. God is glorified when you surrender self - the ego or pride.
Obedience is an act of the will. The highest sacrifice to God is that of the will - willing sacrifice. Jesus Christ says to His Father, "Thy will be done." He was totally surrendered to the will of His Father. As a matter of fact, there's no clashes of the will within the Godhead. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are perfectly and absolutely in agreement. No air of superiority among them. No inferiority complex in any one of them. They share common essence or nature.
Absence of surrender to God is the presence of sorrow. Pharaoh and Egypt suffered greatly for resisting the will of God. Firstborn children died for Pharaoh's lack of surrender to the will of God. Choose God and His will! There's a great blessing in doing that. Let the pride, the ego, the independence go! Surrender to the Lord! As the Scripture says, "Obedience is better than sacrifice." Obey the Lord! Yield to the Lord! Give your will as an offering to the Lord!
