Text: 1Kgs.20:40
"And as thy servant was BUSY HERE and THERE, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; THYSELF has DECIDED it."
The king behaved foolishly. He was to ensure that an enemy in his custody did not escape, but instead of making sure of that, he got busy, doing other things that kept his eyes away from the main task, and the enemy escaped. By that singular act of negligence he decided his doom.
Choices and actions decide destiny. You must endeavor to choose and act wisely. Keep your eyes on the main task of your life.
Stop engaging in things that make success hard to hit. Stop being busy about nothing. Make the main thing the main thing.
Avoid unnecessary distractions or vain fascination with passing glories.
Follow in the steps of Jesus, who says, "I must be about my Father's business." And like Paul, tell yourself and others, "This one thing I do…" Not many things, but just one thing.
Stay focused on the main things of life. Commit yourself to, and concentrate only on things that really matter, and they are not plenty. Understand that not all pursuits lead to success and being busy is not the same thing as being fulfilled. Narrow your interest and sharpen your focus. Amen.
