Focus: The Final Word (Pt.1)
Text: Heb.13:5
"He hath said…"
The word of God is final. The word of God is supreme. The word of God is the most powerful and authoritative in the whole universe. It is superior to all other words in this whole universe.
After God has spoken, nothing else needs to be said, and no one else needs to speak, not even a syllable, except to concur and comply. The psalmist says, "For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name" (Ps.138:2).
Be it in time or eternity, there is absolutely nothing that is above the word of God, not even the names of God.
The word of God is more than the Scriptures. The word of God is more than words or letters. It is more than a proposition or supposition. The word of God is a person, the person of Jesus Christ. Four times in the book of Revelation, we read, "I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty… I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the first and the last… It is done. I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the beginning and the end… I am ALPHA and OMEGA, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" (Rev.1:8,11; 21:6; 22:13). Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. By referring to Himself as the Alpha and Omega, Christ is saying, 'I am the First and Final word. No word before and after Him.
Christ is the word of God personified.
God goes where His word goes. As He goes, He confirms His word with signs and wonders. He attends to His word. He brings it to pass. In the Scriptures we find the Spoken word, the Sent word, the Sure word, the Settled, Solid, and Sound word of God. The psalmist declares, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions… For ever, O LORD, thy word is SETTLED in heaven" (Ps.107:20; 119:89). God's word heals, and it is domiciled in heaven - well stationed, concretely established, and solidly erected as a pillar in heaven. Be assured that the original copy of God's word is intact in heaven.
Yes, He has said it, and that settles it! Count on God's word! Reckon with it! Rely on it! Risk your life for it! Believe and obey it! Abide in it! Live by it! Take it seriously and stand firm on it! Amen!
