Focus: The Fullness Of Time
Text: Gal.4:4
"When the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son."
One lesson we should learn at Christmas is that of God using time as a means to achieving His eternal ends. God takes charge of time and uses time to advance His programs. God never runs fast, but He never comes late, not even for a second.
Jesus Christ entered the human space at the right time. No force could have made Him come a moment behind schedule. Mary's pregnancy was almost due, and if not for the decree of Augustus Caesar that every man should return to his land of nativity to be counted in the census, she would have given birth to her baby in Nazareth contrary to prophecy. Amazingly, God was behind the issuance of that decree that necessitated Joseph and Mary traveling back to Bethlehem. God moves people and things to fulfill His word. The God of providence superimposes Himself on human history, so that in the end, history is truly seen as His story.
God is the absolute orchestrator and perfect arranger of people and circumstances for the furtherance of His will. The psalmist says that "fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word" (Ps.148:8). No power can keep God's word concerning you from being fulfilled.
It took days to travel from North to South of Israel, but Joseph and Mary made it on time. Luke says, "To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being GREAT WITH CHILD" (Lk.2:5). Mary was heavy with child and due to be delivered of it. According to the original Greek, her belly has fully protruded or swelled. Luke continues, "And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered" (Lk.2:6). Her time to give birth was finally due in Bethlehem, the birthplace of prophecy for the Messiah, not in Nazareth.
No power can hinder God's fullness of time in your life. The psalmist says to the Lord, "My times are in thy hand" (Ps.31:15). Your time for anything and everything is in God's hand. Every prophetic word concerning you has its own time to be fulfilled. God sees to that and makes sure of it. Everything happening in your life right now is bringing you closer to the fullness of time when God's glory explodes in your life.
Christ was born at the right time and in the right place and by the right parents from the right Davidic family. Everything worked out perfectly.
I believe your story will end up as God's story. You will birth and fulfill your destiny in the fullness of time. Things working against you shall soon be working for you. Time will tell that God really knew what He was doing all along with you. Your God is the accurate time keeper, user and controller. He sovereignly controls the events of history and His presence fills every space.
