Text: Gen.3:15

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

Behind the fall of man is the presence and involvement of an enemy. John in Revelation 12:9 describes his identity perfectly: "And the great DRAGON was cast out, that OLD SERPENT, called the DEVIL, and SATAN, which deceiveth the whole world." The serpent of Revelation is not a new one, but the one that existed of old in Genesis 3, and that serpent is a personality, not literally an animal. The personality behind the serpent is no other than the Devil himself, also known as Satan and the dragon. Deception is his winning tool.

In Genesis 3 he deceived an individual, and here in Revelation 12, he has deceived the whole world. John also says that "the whole world lieth in wickedness" (1Jh.5:19). Therefore man's salvation would not be achieved without making sure that this enemy of God and man is destroyed intoto.

There is no saving of man without the bruising of the serpent's head.

I say it once more that the salvation of man is made a reality by crushing Satan. God declares the seed of the woman as the instrument to be used in accomplishing the serpent's total defeat and destruction. The seed of the woman is also known as the son of man.

But why is it called the seed of the woman in the first place? It is because the fall of man happened through the woman. By deception Satan lured the woman, and through the woman the man consented and allowed himself to be conquered.

God solves problems from source, not from the surface.

By the woman man fell, and so by the seed of the woman man would be rescued and restored. Sin has been neutralized from its taproot.

At last God through the cross of Christ dealt with the shackles of sin and Satan. Paul declares, "Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus" (Act.13:23). The seed has salvation as His mission. The seed is the Savior of Israel, and by extension the whole world. From this Scripture you can see that the seed of the woman has been narrowed down to the seed of David. Paul says, "Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel" (2Tim.2:8). In certain other Scriptures He is called the seed of Abraham (Rom.9:7; 11:1; 2Cor.11:22). Here He is the seed of David (Rom.1:3). We learn also from Isaiah and Malachi of the seed's character - "holy" and "godly" (Isa.6:13; Mal.2:15). In the Acts of the Apostles, Jesus Christ is referred to as the "holy child" (Act.4:27,30).

Christmas is the celebration of the arrival of the seed of the woman, the seed of Abraham, and the seed of David - the incorruptible seed, holy and godly. Through him man has been saved from his sin, and the old serpent has been perfectly and permanently crushed and trashed. In Christ man's freedom is regained. Ensure that you are celebrating Christ at Christmas, or the essence of it is ruined. The seed of the world is here!
