Focus: The Sure Word
Text: Jer:1:11-12
"Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an ALMOND tree. Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will HASTEN my word to perform it."
Jeremiah encounters God at the start of his prophetic ministry and sees God's vision of an almond tree.
The Hebrew word for 'almond' is 'shaqed,' and the word 'hasten' is 'shaqad.' They stem from the same root. So God is telling Jeremiah, "I will 'shaqad' my word to do it." That is a play on words. Shaqed means "watcher, waker, vigilant watchman, early."
The almond tree is the first of the trees to wake up from the slumber and sleep of the winter and the first to bring forth fruit. In Spring, while other trees are still budding or flowering, the almond is already bearing fruits. It flowers or blossoms in late January and comes to fruition in March. With the picture of the almond's early flowering and fruiting in mind, God says to Jeremiah, 'I will watch over my word to fulfill it. I will see to it that my word flourishes and brings forth fruit.'
God is the vigilante of His own word. As Jeremiah speaks God's word, God would follow His word through. He would see to it that His word is fulfilled, and God would be prompt, quick and exact in doing it.
God attends to His word. He is watchful of His word. He superintends His word to perform it. No force can hinder its fulfillment.
In essence, God says to Jeremiah, 'My word in your mouth is a sure word. I will make it happen.'
Trust God to bring His word to pass in your life. He never sleeps, but watches over His word to accomplish it. His word works. It worked then, and it's working now. You can bank on God's word. Be assured of His sure word. God will perform His prophetic word in your life and cause it to prevail over circumstances. No word from God is powerless. YHVH has His wakeful eyes on His spoken word. He goes wherever His word goes. Mark 16:20 says, "And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord WORKING with them, and CONFIRMING the WORD with SIGNS following. Amen."
I prophesy by the Spirit of God that you are about to get a confirmation of the prophetic word of God in your situation. He will certainly give you a testimony. Amen.
