Focus: The Treasure Within
Text: 2Cor.4:7
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
Child of God, you carry something precious - something heavy - inside of you. Let me tell you right away that what you carry inside you is meant to change you, and that which you carry within you is called 'the treasure.' This treasure you carry within is capable of transforming you without.
Alcibiades, that brilliant but wild young man of Athens, used to say to Socrates: "I hate you, for every time I meet you, you show me what I am." Socrates was light to this young man. In the presence of Socrates he felt exposed or uncovered. That was literally what the woman of Samaria experienced when she came into contact with Jesus Christ. She said to her people, "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?" (Jh.4:29). In the presence of Jesus Christ she was exposed.
As we manifest the treasure before others, they are stunned and curious. They seek to see or know more.
It is the constant change of our lives by the treasure within that reveals to others the power of our God, and as someone has said, it is in the light of goodness that evil stands condemned.
By simply being that Christian that you are, you bear testimony to Christ and raise eyebrows.
Always be conscious of this glorious truth: you carry the divine treasure within you. Let your life be an expression and manifestation of the treasure you carry within you! Let your life shine! Let your glory manifest! Let men see the supernatural beauty and aura of God upon your life! Be a testimony of God's goodness! The treasure is your power. The treasure is where your dignity and difference lies. It is your responsibility to let the world see the treasure you carry inside of you. Paul says, "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling." Work out what God is working inside you. The treasure is the reality of the indwelling Christ inside you. It is the power of God at work in you. Let the treasure within change you without! Let who you are in Christ become noticeable by the watching world! There is treasure within the earthen vessel of your physical body, and Christ in you is the hope of glory. Amen!
