Focus: The Word Works

Text: Ps.33:6.

"By the WORD of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the BREATH of his mouth."

The Word is God's system of operation. The Word is God's raw material; God makes and fashions things by his word. He designs structures and systems by his word. The Word creates, redeems and transforms. 

The word the psalmist used for word is 'debar,' and has three consonants - DBR. The letter D is for daleth, door; B is for beth, house; and R is for reshi, head, mind, beginning. So in Hebrew DABAR is no mere word; it is something, substance, or matter. The word he speaks always becomes something - something tangible and visible.

God by speaking creates a door, constructs a house, and makes known his mind. He is the maker. The psalmist uses the word 'asah' for 'made.' It means to produce a thing from a raw material, and God's word is the basic raw material. Another raw material is our situations. He uses our needs and problems as his raw materials to process and produce our miracles.

His word and breath work wonders. By means of his word miracles happen in our lives.

I assure you that the word still works today. It creates, revives, renews, heals, delivers, transforms, inspires hope, and makes things happen.

Take God's word seriously. Believe it, do what it says, and live by it. It works, and it will work for, and work through you. I am a living proof of what God's word can do. Amen.
