Text: Judg.15:18

"He was sore athirst, and called on the Lord, and said, thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst?"

By the hand of Samson God wrought great deliverance for Israel. He slaughtered the enemies in their numbers. Even as a one-man squad, God always ensured that Samson came out of every battle victorious.

Now after a great victory, Samson is feeling intensely thirsty. It is such that he feels like he is going to die. He has power to fight and win, but no power to quench his thirst. He finds himself in a place where there is no water in sight. He feels life is gradually, but steadily slipping away from him. Then out of desperation and despair he cries out to God for help. Samson says to God in essence, 'Lord, why let me die of thirst after such a great deliverance? You have given me a great victory. Why not give me water also to quench my thirst, or does it not bother you that I am dying?' This goes to show that man is powerless and helpless without God. Even in matters as mundane as water to drink, we need God's help.

God is saying to you, 'Whatever the matter is, trust Me. I am capable of meeting your needs. If I didn't let you die in the hands of your enemies, what makes you think that I will let you die of thirst? Trust Me both in big and small things.'

Jesus asked two blind men, "Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord" (Mt.9:28). 'Yes, Lord' should also be your own response to Christ amid our needs and bills. Not only is God able, but also, He is willing to help you. The Scripture says that "the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him" (2Chron.16:9). He will never abandon His own in the time of need or trouble. Paul says, "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" (Rom.8:32). God who has given us the best in Christ Jesus, will not at all deny us of the least things of life. The psalmist says, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: NO GOOD THING WILL HE WITHHOLD FROM THEM THAT WALK UPRIGHTLY" (Ps.84:11).

Be not in doubt of what the Lord can do in your life. It is surely in your best interest to trust God at all times. He takes care of both sublime and mundane needs in our lives.

God did not let Samson die of thirst. God miraculously provided the water that Samson desperately wanted, and he revived, recovered and survived.

Learn to trust God. The creator of sparrows is your Father. Never forget that the one who feeds the birds is your Father. He is telling you, 'Trust me.'
