Focus: Two Mountains in Your Life

Text: Zech.4:7

"Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain…"

Two mountains exist in our lives, namely, climbable and removable mountains.

1. Climbable mountain

Climbable mountains represent challenges and obstacles that stand between us and greatness, between potential or dream and concrete reality, and between actuality and possibility.

There's no worthy or great accomplishment in this life without some mountains to climb, and as we know, nothing good comes easy or cheap. No destiny is worth fulfilling without some mountains to climb.

It takes the earnest desire to achieve something worthwhile, strength of heart, discipline, willingness and determination to climb life's mountains. Matthew writes, "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him…" (Mt.5:1).

The mountaintop belongs to those who are determined to climb their mountains.

Jesus didn't just wish He could climb His mountain. He climbed it. Jesus frequently climbed mountains and made things happen from there. He prayed, taught, and was transfigured from the mountain. In fact, He climbed up the mountain to ascend to heaven.

His last climb was the cross, from where He accomplished our eternal salvation. We will forever remember Mt. Calvary or the Hill of Golgotha, because from there our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, shouted, "It is finished." He climbed it for our good. Amen.

God says to His people, "Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD" (Hag.1:8). You can make it to the top of the mountain. The wood for God's house is found on some mountains.

2. The removable mountain

Jesus says, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou REMOVED, and be thou cast into the sea…" (Mk.11:23).

We are dealing here with removable mountains. This is the mountain of impossibility. It's a chronic condition, a lingering crisis, a Satanic and stubborn situation. It's neither climbable nor removable by mere strength of flesh. The faith of God is the key to getting this mountain out of the way. We can make the impossible possible by the power of faith. Paul calls it a mountain-removing faith (1Cor.13:2). The impossible mountain in your life is removable by miracle. Jesus says, "For verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE UNTO YOU" (Mt.17:20).

Stop praying to remove a mountain that is there for you to climb. Also, stop wasting your energy trying to climb a mountain that only faith in, and prayer to God can remove. And may God give you the wisdom to know the difference!

There's a mountain you can climb and also a mountain God alone can help you remove.
