Focus: Utilize Your Energy!
Text: Ecl.9:10
"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might."
The Preacher is speaking, letting us know that regardless of life's uncontrollability, uncertainty, and unpredictability, God still requires of us to spot our strength and put it to use for the good of humanity. The Septuagint says, "All things whatsoever thy hand shall find to do, do it as thy power is." That is to say, use your powers to the fullest. Do not do less than you are capable of. Do not be less than you can be.
*Find what your hands are fitted for
God wants you to discover your unique ability. Destiny is not by choice; it is by discovery. No one chooses what his ability will be like; we find or identify what it is. The Lord Jesus Christ says to His disciples, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain…" (Jh.15:16).
God chooses us to do His will. It is our unique responsibility to find out what He has chosen us for - what we are destined for.
Discover what you are capable of! Spot your strengths! Identify your unique qualities and abilities! Locate the hidden powers God has endowed you with.
*Employ your energy
Use your energy to achieve great success! Get to work with all the power in your soul! Engage your energies.
Your hand is fit for something, not everything. Find what your hand is fitted for! Every one of us is uniquely designed and specially assigned by our creator and owner. Selectivity always makes for effectiveness. You can do something, not everything. Be a master at something! Don't be jack of all trades and master of none!
You can't succeed doing nothing! If you succeed doing nothing, then you have thoroughly and woefully failed. God created you to be an asset, not a liability. Idleness is not one of the laws of success. Hard work is. You are only as relevant as your contribution to society in one way or the other. Idle life is boring.
Those who want to succeed in life should understand that life itself is a sacred trust. We succeed by making ourselves useful, by committing to life's purpose and noble goals, by contributing our quota to humanity and letting the world celebrate what God can do through us, by earnest pursuit, by solving problems in our corner of the world, and by serving our generation with our gifting, talent, skill, career, business, profession, or industry.
*Excel at what you do
The opposite of excellence is mediocrity. Underachievement is a sign of mediocrity. Success results from what you do, not from what you know and fail to apply. We live in a world where we know so much but accomplish so little.
Those who excel at what they do are those who keep improving themselves and upgrading their skills and knowledge. Knowledge and dedication give them an edge. They are committed to delivering excellence as a brand.
*Energy at its best
The Preacher says, "Do it with your might." That means, throw your whole weight into whatever you do. Refuse to sign any deal with mediocrity! Give your hidden potential full expression. Excel in what you do! Commit yourself to doing things excellently! Stamp your work with beauty, quality and perfection. Don't settle for less or for the average! Let people see your work and wonder at your ingenuity! Make little things you do look captivating and astonishing.
Praise and worship God with all your might. Serve God with all your might. Serve your fellow human being with all your might. Give yourself to whatever you do and make the best out of what is in your hands.
Do all you can while you have breath, and do it energetically and fantastically.
Don't resign to fate! You do not have control over many things, but you can put all the energy you have into a productive venture. God has given you power to make something happen; use it to the fullest! Moses declares, "But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth…" (Dt.8:18). You can make a vast difference in your corner of the world with the ability God has given you. Stop making excuses and start using your God-given ability to better yourself and others!
There is something you can do. From the research of others I have learned that an average individual possesses from 500 to 700 different skills and abilities even far more than we are aware of. Wastefulness is not allowed in God's kingdom. Don't waste your powers! Use every ounce of energy in you to advance the agenda of heaven and the good of humanity! Spot your unique strength and utilize it to achieve great good.
