Focus: Voices of Jesus
Text: Heb.4:7
"To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts."
Jesus speaks to us from different positions and with many voices. Let us consider a few of His voices to us.
*He speaks to us with the voice of a Master, and says, "Occupy till I come" - Lk.19:13. As His servants He demands our obedience, not our opinions.
*He speaks to us with the voice of a Savior, and says, "Come unto me..." - Mt.11:28. He has a gift of rest for you, rest from unbearable labor and heavy loads.
*He speaks to us with the voice of a teacher, and says, "Learn of me..." - Mt.11:29. He knows all you don't know and requires that we enroll in his lifelong class. He teaches deep things and simplifies the complex.
*He speaks to us with the voice of a Shepherd, and says, "Follow me" - Jh.10:27. As our Shepherd He leads and feeds us. He really cares.
*He speaks to us with the voice of a bridegroom, and says, "Open to me..." - Song of Sol.5:2. Heed His voice now and get intimate with Him.
*He speaks to us with the voice of a friend, and says, "I will sup with him, and he with me" - Rev.3:20. He beckons for our fellowship.
*Finally, He speaks to us with the voice of a doctor, and asks, "Wilt thou be made whole?" - Jh.5:6. Our wholeness is paramount to Him - body, soul and spirit. He wants us well.
By hearing and heeding his voice we shall truly live. Amen.
