Focus: Your Eternal Home
Text: Ezk.20:6
"A land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all the lands."
God has the best of places for His own children. God has nothing but the best for those who serve and honor Him. The eternal home of the believer is the glory of all lands. It is a world beyond this one. The believer lives and labors in hope of a new world, and as Peter sees it, it is a world wherein dwells righteousness. Peter says, "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness" (2Pet.3:13). In the new world God is bringing about, righteousness will be freely, fully and finally at home.
In the book of Revelation we are informed that in the new world there will be:
*No more sea.
*No more tears.
*No more death.
*No more sorrow or crying.
*No more pain.
*No more former things.
*No more temple.
*No more sun and moon.
*No more night.
*No more defiling things or evil people.
You can read Revelation 21 and 22 for yourself. God is bringing the believer to a beautiful home. It can't be compared to any place in this world.
God took Israel from Egypt to bring them to a beautiful land. God says to Moses, "I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto A GOOD LAND AND A LARGE, unto A LAND FLOWING WITH MILK AND HONEY…"
God says to Israel, "I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto A LAND FLOWING WITH MILK AND HONEY."
Moses tells them, "And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, A LAND FLOWING WITH MILK AND HONEY, that thou shalt keep this service in this month."
God says to them, "But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, A LAND THAT FLOWETH WITH MILK AND HONEY: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people."
The Israeli spies said, "We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and SURELY IT FLOWETH WITH MILK AND HONEY."
The enemy of Israel said about the land, "A LAND of corn and wine, A LAND of bread and vineyards, A LAND of oil olive and of honey."
Moses declares that God was bringing His people into "houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full" (Ex.3:8,17; 13:5; Lev.20:24; Num.13:27; 2Kgs.18:32; Dt.6:11).
The believer's eternal home is a sweet home. It is the home of love, joy and peace. It is a home that has righteousness in its DNA. It is a home of divine liberty, a home of industry and service, and a home where God resides and presides. The believer's home is a paradise - a land of vocation, not vacation. This pure paradise is not for parasites but for souls saved by Christ and washed in His blood.
David sings, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever" (Ps.23:6). God's eternal home awaits all blood-bought believers and saints in Christ Jesus. The believer's life and labor here on earth are in preparation for God's eternal home.
