Focus: Repent!

John the Baptist preached repentance. Also, Jesus Christ, at the start of His ministry, preached repentance. Here in our text, Jesus Christ is telling the church in Sardis to repent of their pretense and false appearance.

"Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom YE CRUCIFIED, whom GOD RAISED from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole."

The incarnation, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the most significant events in history. The three of them are eternally tied together, because one could not happen without the others. The addition to the three pivotal events of history is Pentecost, which announced the arrival of the Holy Spirit to pilot the affairs of the Church...
